Well, our first football season has come to an end. I must say, it was a lot of fun, a learning experience, and exhausting all at the same time. Over the past 12 weeks, we have cried with Carson after tough practices, we have celebrated with Carson after great hits, we have agonized over not winning any games, and we have had long talks as a family about commitment, playing hard, not giving up, and having fun every single game. Emotions have been all over the scale this season. Carson's team practiced 3 nights a week, which is extremely difficult for 2 working parents and 2 younger siblings. Thank goodness for grandmother! Without her we could not have made it to every single practice on time! The commitment alone was a challenge. Then, we were faced with the difficult task of being on a losing team and explaining time after time that as long as you are getting better every week and having fun, it doesn't matter what the scoreboard says. Some weeks that was a very difficult conversation with our 7 year old. But, the last game of the season put it all in perspective. They lost, but Carson had a great tackle! We finally saw a glimpse of the huge potential this little boy has. Carson absolutely LOVES football. He watches it on TV every day, looks forward to practice, asks Jason to practice with him in the backyard and always encourages his teammates. These qualities coupled with Carson's size and frame may just be the foundation of what he can be one day. We are so proud of Carson and look forward to watching him play as long as he wants to!
