This spring Carson decided to play tackle football for another season. This time, we signed up with the Jr. Rattler's. Carson was on the Rookie Footbal team (age 8-9). It was a long season, but Carson really enjoyed it! We practiced twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:15-8:15. They played most Saturdays and a few Sundays. Carson's team was AMAZING! They had awesome coaches and a bunch of talented young men! They went undefeated in the regular season. In the playoffs, they won the first game in double overtime and then lost the second. It was a great season of very competitive football!
Carson was one of the younger boys on the team. Although Carson LOVES football, practices all the time, watches it on TV, and even works on strategies with his XBOX game, he struggled this season with playing time. Jason and I took it as an opportunity to teach him hard work, persistence, and good sportsmanship. He is tall, lean, relatively fast and has good hands, but lacks aggression, which is vital to the game of football. We had many talks about not giving up, continuing to get better each day, and giving 100% effort every time he was on the field. I love Carson so much and it was hard to see him watch most games from the sidelines, but after the games when he smiled real big and congratulated his teammates on a great win, I knew that he was learning some valuable lessons. Jason and I vow to support him (and the other kids) in whatever they want to do. We won't miss a practice or game if humanly possible. If he continues to love the game and wants to play football, he has 100% support from us ---no matter how much he plays!
