For winter break we decided to do something we had never done before. We traveled to Angelfire, New Mexico with 3 other families to do a little skiing and playing in the snow! It was an amazing trip! The house was beautiful. Each couple had their own room and the kids stayed in a big playroom equipped with bunk beds and sleeping bags. The kids had never skied before and it was 20 years since I last skied so we signed up for ski lessons. After one day (really 1/2 day) we were coasting down the mountain - some faster than others! Carson and his friend Mason (both 12) were untouchable. Kennedi, Maren, Allie, and Dani (9-10) were a bit slower, but fearless nevertheless. They tried the big hills and even when they fell, they brushed off the snow and went again...giggling the whole way! Cade and Blake (8) were out of control!! Those two would go as fast as they could, crash, then get up and go again! So. Much. Fun.
The house we stayed at was on a golf course. The course was layered with several feet of snow. Jason, the engineer, created a sledding hill in the backyard. The kids played in the snow for hours! It was pure joy watching them laugh and sled down the hill!
What a fun vacation! Hopefully we will ski again one day, but until now I will cherish the 5 days we spent in Angelfire!
